Peter and the Wolf Concert Set for October 25, 2010
On Monday, October 25, the orchestra will present its 19th annual concert for school children: Peter and the Wolf. This concert is a wonderful opportunity for teachers to share the excitement of a live orchestra performance with their students at a modest cost.
Maestro Lipari will conduct this playful, classic work by Sergei Prokofiev - a piece of music with narration that showcases each section of the orchestra and has delighted and inspired young people ever since its composition in 1936.
The program is especially well suited for students in grades 2-6. In the past, entire grade levels, band and orchestra members, and general music classes have attended.
Fast facts for the October 25 concert:
- Location: Christ Church of Oak Brook, York Road and 31st Street
- Time: Three identical 45-minute performances, at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., and 1 p.m.
- Cost: $3.50 per student, with 1 chaperone free for every 12 students
- To register: See concert details and registration form.
