YOUTH CONCERTO COMPETITION
The West Suburban Symphony Society proudly provides an opportunity for high school musicians to perform a solo work with orchestra each season. This competition furthers students' overall musical development by giving them valuable opportunities to:
- Audition competitively and receive constructive feedback from professional musicians.
- Perform as soloists in concert with an internationally acclaimed Chicago-area orchestra.
Experience with this competition shows that the winners will be those students who have completely memorized their solo by the time of the live audition, rehearsed extensively with their accompanists, and become thoroughly comfortable playing with the accompaniment.
The application postmark deadline for the 2011-12 competition is December 5, 2011, and finalists will audition January 14, 2012, in Clarendon Hills. The winner of the competition will perform at our Brahms concert on March 18, 2012, in Westmont, Illinois.
The competition announcement and entry form are available here.
