TAKE A BREAK FROM WINTER with sunny music that is sure to lift your spirits, in our first concert in the spectacular new auditorium at Christ Church of Oak Brook. Ludwig van Beethoven’s cheerful Symphony 8, which has remained popular 200+ years after its composition, is the centerpiece of this program. It is accompanied by five shorter compositions for orchestra from the 1900s. Ballet music from Gustav Holst’s comic opera The Perfect Fool will bring a smile to your face, as will two light-hearted folk dance tunes by Percy Grainger: Molly on the Shore and Shepherd’s Hey. Two contrasting selections by Gordon Jacob round out the concert: his contemplative Fantasia on the Alleluia Hymn and his comic parody The Barber of Seville Goes to the Devil.
Note: This concert will be presented without intermission and run for about 75 minutes. All performers will be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. See pandemic safety protocols for our audience here.

Presented At: Christ Church of Oak Brook, 501 31st Street (501 Oak Brook Road), Oak Brook, IL 60523
