You'll be dazzled by epic, passionate music from popular operas set around the world, including the whirlwind overture from Richard Wagner's The Flying Dutchman, the story of a cursed sailing ship off Norway, and his gorgeous Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin, set in ancient Europe. We'll take you to Scotland with Giuseppe Verdi's moving melodies from Macbeth; to Paris with his Brindisi Chorus from La Traviata; to Spain with the Anvil Chorus of gypsies in Il Trovatore; and to Jerusalem with the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco. As an extra treat, the winner of our 2024-25 youth solo contest, Jan Vargas Nedvetsky, will perform the first movement of Antonin Dvorak's Cello Concerto.
